Meet Our Leadership Team

Sari and Howie Grossinger

Sending your child to summer camp is no small decision. (Trust us—we know.) Our family involvement began in 1961 when Sari’s parents, Larry & Pearl Bell took on the leadership of Camp Robin Hood. Married for 32 years, we have spent 60+ (combined) years investing our love and know-how straight to Camp Robin Hood’s core. For us, the importance of creating safe places for positive growth, independence, and boatloads of fun are guiding principles. We’re also the parents of 3 adult children who have all been positively impacted by their involvement in camp and now pursuing their own dreams. 30 year-old Jordanna who works alongside us as a Co-Director, 28 year-old Cole and his wife Lexie who now live and work in Los Angeles and 24 year-old Zane who just completed his Masters and is now at Medical School in Ireland.

Sari, daughter of our Directors Emeriti Larry & Pearl, grew up at camp. She is also pediatric Occupational Therapist. Coupled together with her 35 plus years on staff at camp, makes her the key person to help meet the needs of all our campers and their fantastic families. By offering up that personal attention to registration, grouping, and problem solving, Sari is the link between our camp and your home.

Howie is the camp’s main face of fun, developing creative activities, training our staff to the highest standards, and leading our famous flagpole events. As a former high school teacher and high performance volleyball coach, he’s Robin Hood’s go-to guy for creating and nurturing teamwork.
Forever grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids, their families and staff, Sari and Howie are very proud of their “hands on” approach to camp and the diverse and dynamic community at Robin Hood.

More about Howie and Sari:

• Howie is the past president of the Ontario Camps Association and served on the Board for 10 years.
• Sari served on the Board of the OCA as well and Chair of the OCA’s Special Needs Resource Committee.
• Howie and Sari are recipients of the OCA’s Dorothy Walter Award of Excellence and Honourary Life Members of the OCA.

Jordanna Grossinger

Jordanna has literally grown up at camp and as a 3rd generation Camp Director, she is poised to continue the legacy of generational leadership at Camp Robin Hood. Jordanna is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist and a qualified elementary school teacher. Her professional training in these two fields and her many years of camp experience provide her with the opportunity to have a profound influence in all aspects of camper care, programming, and customer service. Jordanna is also responsible for our Robin Hood Leadership Centre program which provides school programs in the spring and fall. She also is an active volunteer with the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) where she leads the Young(ish) and Emerging Professionals Group and after providing outstanding leadership in 2024, will once again be Co-Chair of the OCA Directors Conference in 2025.

Jeff Masterson

Jeff Masterson joined our team as the founding Director of Robin Hood Sports Academy playing a major role in the development of this great program. Transitioning from coach to become a true “camp guy”, Jeff is now part of the Robin Hood Director team helping to oversee all aspects of our summer program and is known as one of the famous Camp Dancers. Jeff celebrated his 25th year on in 2023 and since the birth of his eldest son in 1998, camp has truly become a family affair for the Mastersons’. Jeff’s two sons Max and Spencer grew up at camp and were on staff and many families know Jeff’s wife Sue who works in our camp office during the spring, summer and fall. During the school year Jeff is the Head of Health and Physical Education at King City S.S. and his involvement in athletics is extensive. Jeff is currently the President of the York Region Athletic Association.

Larry and Pearl Bell

In 1961, Larry and Pearl Bell began their work at Camp Robin Hood and for over 60 years, have provided the leadership that has created the wonderful reputation and generational legacy of our camp. As the proud parents of Sari and her younger sister Michelle, a life filled with the influence of camp was natural. Cut to present day, when Larry and Pearl still provide that crucial daily support that makes Robin Hood so special. Larry still contributes to the coordination of our bus routing to this day. Pearl, an Occupational Health Nurse and Registered Nurse, is still an active personality and presence around the camp garden. They’re the epitome of camp spirit and to get to know about their legacy, check out this video on the anniversary of their 50th year at camp in 2011. here is their 50 year tribute video!

Lorne Berger

Berger is one of our longest serving Camp Robin Hood community members. After over 10 years as a camper, Berger is now in his 23rd year as a staff member. Berger is known as a team builder, and reliable source for campers and staff to help them make the most of their CRH experience. He is our resident Friar Tuck for the Quest For The Golden Arrow and is always eager to help the green team win every year. Lorne met his wife Keren while on staff at Camp Robin Hood and are the proud parents of adorable twin girls. When not at camp, “Berger” is a York Region teacher in Markham.

Ryan Minster

We are excited to have “Minster” back as our Assistant Director. This year marks his 21st year on staff, spending 4 years prior to that as a camper. A huge sports fan, Ryan is right at home helping campers and staff to develop their athletic and leadership capabilities. During the year, Ryan is a York Region Vice-Principal providing wonderful perspective on camp administration and policy. Ryan is married to Amanda our Inclusion Coordinator after meeting at camp many years ago and have two sons who are enthusiastic CRH campers.

Brett Coburn

Brett is returning to Robin Hood for his 24th summer. Now our Operations and Logistics Coordinator, Brett has really done it all at camp and serves as an incredible resource to everyone. When not at camp, Brett is a French immersion and Physical Education teacher in York Region. Brett’s wife Victoria (they met at camp) is a former member of our Camper Relations Team and they have three beautiful little girl’s who will all be at camp this summer.

Lauren Cranfield

This is Lauren’s 14th summer on staff after many years as a camper and is now our multi-talented Program Director. Her role is to coordinate a great team of Activity Leaders who deliver our daily program. All the activities your camper will enjoy are in large part due to Lauren’s creativity and passion to deliver what kids like to do each day. Lauren is a York Region teacher and a former Varsity rugby player at Queen’s university.

Amanda Minster

As our Inclusion Coordinator, Amanda works closely with our Camp Director Sari Grossinger to ensure kids of all abilities and staff enjoy their Robin Hood experience. As the leader of our Camper Relations team, returning for her 17th year, Amanda contributes to staff training as well as camper and staff support so everyone can enjoy being at camp. A special education teacher in York Region during the year, Amanda enjoys being at camp with her husband Ryan Minster and spending time with her two boys who attend camp.

Patti Stulberg

Starting as a counsellor in her teens, Patti has been a member of our team for 39 years. As the go-to person for parents who need help with registration, payments, or general inquiries about administrative matters, Patti is (obviously) a highly appreciated member of the Robin Hood family. The tradition continues as her twin daughters, Jessica & Lesley, have grown up at camp and Lesley is now a Division Head and part of our summer Leadership Team.

Bev Unger

Bev, our camp nurse, is returning to Robin Aid where she started working 25 summers ago. Bev oversees all things related to health and wellness at camp, ensuring Robin Hood maintains the highest standards of health care. Along with the Robin Aid team, she promotes wellness through her ongoing care and educating of campers and staff. Bev’s compassion and love for all things camp shines through in her 26 year old Quadruplets who started at CRH when they were 3 ½! When not at camp, Bev works as a Registered Nurse in the community and is an active volunteer with the Ontario Camps Association.

Robin Perlmutter

As a past Robin Hood Swim Director and a member of the Robin Hood family for over 40 years, Robin is is somewhat of an icon here at camp. Her all-encompassing knowledge about the camp programs never ceases to come in handy. Not only does Robin personally develop all the bus routes with Senior Director Larry Bell, but she works closely with our bus company to make sure each route is efficient, safe, and fun. On a daily basis every summer, she’s always happy to lend an open ear to camp families regarding their transportation needs and questions.

Sue Masterson

Often the first point of contact for our families, Sue has been a member of our office team for many years but has been part of our camp family for much longer. When her other half, Jeff Masterson, joined our team as the founding Director of Robin Hood Sports Academy back in 1998, Sue was pregnant with their oldest son, Max. After Spencer was born a few years later, Sue had the pleasure of watching both boys grow up at camp while she assisted us in our summer office, before taking on the role of Purchasing Coordinator. Sue now works very hard to ensure that our campers are well taken care of, and she works closely with Jordanna to ensure that the schools that attend the Robin Hood Leadership Centre in the spring and fall run as smoothly as possible!
