Home and Away Program
This program is available to campers who have completed Grades 2 or 3. On the second Friday of the summer, all Home & Away campers travel by coach bus and spend the next two weeks at beautiful Camp Walden in Bancroft, Ontario. Home & Away campers are grouped in the same bunk and supervised by Robin Hood and Walden staff – the same staff the kids already know from Robin Hood travel with them to Walden.
Parents also get to join in the fun as they are invited to experience a day at overnight camp by joining us on Visitors Day at Camp Walden just 4 days before their kids come home at the end of July.
Hundreds of families have told us that this unique introduction to overnight camp helped make their children’s transition to overnight camp successful.
Cole asked me if I would buy him a bunk bed so he could set it up like his top bunk in the Green cabin. He had a wonderful time, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for doing all that you do to run a safe, happy, comfortable, warm, fun and loving day camp and overnight camp.

Counsellors that Stay with Your Child
One of the many benefits of our Home & Away program is that counsellors who work at day camp with your campers are the same ones that travel to Camp Walden for the overnight component. Our carefully selected staff and the excellent training they receive while attending Camp Walden’s pre-camp makes this transition to being away that much easier our campers. The added opportunity of our mandatory overnight at Camp Robin Hood during the first week of camp allows this group of campers and staff to get to know each other right from the beginning!
Best of Both Worlds
Each Home & Away camper participates in the unique aspects of both Camp Robin Hood and Camp Walden – combining the best of the day and overnight experiences into one fantastic program. From swim instruction in our pools in Markham to gaining the confidence and independence in swimming at our beautiful Red Pine lake, this is just one aspect of your child’s experience that will make the transition to overnight camp positive and worthwhile.
